Convenience of doing something is the entry point for invasive surveillance. Social media and every thing offered as a 'free' service is not actually free. Your information is sold for profit and your choices, posts and behavior is monitored to control your buying habits and political choices to meet elite end goals. Recognize that dimension and your choices even if they try to guide you remain your own. While one can't avoid giving personal information, one can retain one's own independence by simply being aware.

I had to get a TWIC card because of my offshore travel as an employee in the Upstream O&G business. That involved some more intrusive data collection than normal. I also have TSA Pre approved status like 10s of millions of Americans. I did consider Global Entry at one point, and my company would have reimbursed the cost, but I decided it was just a tad to intrusive.

Facial recognition is coming, it's just a matter of time and ultimately ...law. All we need is a crisis large enough and the government security and surveillance apparatus will not let the opportunity go to waste.
