Thank you for this excellent summary. I realize we're supposed to hate and distrust Putin, perhaps with good reason, perhaps not, but I must say I do admire the man as a leader and strategist. While the U.S. and NATO attempted to bully him into war, he instead played the waiting game. Consequently, despite sanctions, the Russian economy post-invasion is much stronger, as is its geopolitical hegemony. Meanwhile, Victoria Nuland is receiving a cold shoulder in Nigeria.
I appreciate your insightful input. My intention isn't to pass judgment on whether Putin is good or bad, but I find it truly captivating to witness the strategic finesse and far-reaching vision displayed by him. Given that Putin hails from a KGB background and having been an ex-intelligence officer myself, I can personally recognize the distinct viewpoint and methodology that accompany his actions. It indeed involves a particular finesse and comprehension of significant shifts and protracted military strategies—a quality that, if I may humbly acknowledge, only a select few - and definitely a very small number of high ranking politicians - tend to possess.
Say what you want about Putin but give credit where credit is due. He refused to be provoked into a banker's war to clear the western debt and has demonstrated patience against a rotting corrupt western war machine. He could have turned the Uke into a parking lot from a distance, but his war of attrition against the CIA proxy will get him what he wants sans nukes. As I say to the sheeple, Slava Ukraine, suckers.
I like your phrasing - reverberate with equal significance as the impending, earth-shattering reckoning awaiting NATO. However, the unself-aware protectionist dolts will obfuscate and dissemble until the last death rattle.
Ha! loved the anthem at the end. Mackinder lives!!!! A great write up, concise and to the point. I do feel that the " earth-shattering reckoning awaiting NATO in Ukraine." is almost understated.
I started off fairly neutral when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. I was aware of the recent history Maidan and the Minsk Agreements. I had also read some Western media articles about Ukrainian Nazis and indiscriminate shelling in the Donbas so I was not shocked in the least when Putin made his move. The only thing that surprised me was the military maneuver toward Kiev rather than just seizing the Pro-Russian rump to the East.
As the war progressed and the Russians seemed to retreat through the first half of the year I began to follow the events closely. As we all know, the Western / Ukrainian reposts seemed to infer the Russian army was in chaos and might even be kicked back to the borders!! This frankly astounded me. However as the months went by I began to read the internet more widely and began to conclude the Western / Ukrainian Media were actually exaggerating (& lying) about almost everything. Now I ignore what I read in the BBC or CNN etc etc because my eyes were fully opened to this war and its causes since before the end of 2022.
As for the "earth-shattering reckoning awaiting NATO in Ukraine". I have a suspicion that this unfolding disaster will fully cement the understanding that the West is in fact not "wearing any clothes". As we can see in Africa things are boiling up all over the place. My fear is that there will be a rapid reaction to the realization that the power of the USA and its main surrogates (esp. the UK) is no longer the dual strengths of its Financial / Military prowess, but is in fact bluster and the fact that its military were projecting power based on attacking "tribal folks" with small arms and IEDs. The USA may just find that its enemies multiply overnight. Will it resort to some desperate act to maintain its hegemony for another few years....quite possibly.... but let's pray not.
A great summary of the actions of sociopaths seeking to advance influence where ever they find a handhold. Like amoebas, they flow into areas of least resistance seeking political and financial control by any means possible including sponsoring unrest by stimulating and then calling attention to threatening events the current political authority cannot control. This is a pattern throughout thousands of years of human history. Those without historical and human personality perspective are manipulated easily and is why personal education is vital to countering this behavior. Roughly 5% of any population are sociopaths. In the US 330mil population that equates to more than 18mil. Only a small fraction of this number are the true threat but the problem remains significant. Every human ill by other humans is sociopathic behavior. Some call these people 'evil', a term without much definition that infers we are helpless to deal with it. Define it as sociopathy and suddenly it can be identified and corralled. This is something each of us must do and help others to do individually. I do not see a top-down reliance on some authority for protection. This only has a bottom-up solution in my opinion.
Many seem to recognize this issue. We could be at a major societal pivot today with a critical mass finally coming to recognize the depth of the issue. It is the excesses of the 'elites' that have triggered a latent sensitivity to this very human issue. The only solution is a compassionate defense of individual rights which protects all but leaves these individuals out of authority.
